Android tethering solutions

I've had my pantech smartphone from verizon wireless for a few months now and I really like the 4GLte because of it's fast connection speeds but one thing I don't like is the power it consumes from my battery. It consumes so much power that I need to take my charger ever where I go otherwise I will risk the chance of having my battery die on me. Well' I might be exaggerating a bit when I say I have to take it every where. I need to at least take it to work with me every day. Lately I've been looking at the apps available in the android market store and one app that really caught my attention was the Easy tether app which you can download to your smartphone and run it on your pc and tether your smartphone to your laptop to get internet on your laptop. I tried it but I haven't had any success so I sent an email to tech support for help but most people who have used this app have had much success and like this app a lot. It's nice to be able to share your internet connection from your smart phone to your laptop because in some places, internet is not always available like when I get to work. They have a wireless network but I discussed getting internet with the general manager and she said it's just not possible because she's afraid that people will use the internet for all the wrong reasons. I just want to use it to check email and update my blogs. Anyways, this app works on windows 7/vista, mac computers and more. I'll keep you up to date on what becomes of my dilemma with the smartphone app.
