Son playing in west-field shopping center playground

After field service, I took the family to West-field Shopping Center on “H” street and Broadway to do some much needed clothes shopping. While my wife went into Victoria's Secret to get her free gift, I took the kids to the new playground at the shopping center. It’s all been newly remodeled and has figurines just like the playground at Plaza Bonita so that the kids can climb on and slide. They had a lot of fun. There’s also an area where the kids can ride on toy cars, trains and planes but you have to pay for the ride. Here’s a picture of my son doing what he loves to do. PLAY………I wish I was a kid again and not have to have a care in the world but just be a kid.

Shopping for PJ's

My wife bought a few pairs of boys pajamas & sleepwear the other day. When I saw my son wearing his almost outgrown pajamas I felt bad. I asked my wife if she can go shopping for sleepwear for our children, which she did. My wife loves shopping; I don’t find it so hard to ask her to go shopping because that’s her weaknesses. My wife takes care of our budget, so she knows when to stop shopping. The photo above is my son and he is wearing one of the pajamas that my wife bought a few days ago. It’s printed with penguins and my son loves it.

My wife has a favorite clothing store and that’s where she buys our clothes. This store sells all kinds of stuff, from newborn’s clothing, toys and accessories to adult’s clothes and even home decors they have too. I’m so glad that my wife found this store because everything she goes shopping for clothes, she was able to save a lot of money. I bet this store has pajamas similar to the Tea collection pajamas. I like Tea collections pajamas because they’re 100% cotton and it’s got extra-long top that covers my son’s belly when sleeping at night. You know how kids are when they sleep. Its freezing but they don’t care if their tummies are showing and cold.

School is now in-session

My son Ethan went back to school this morning after a long 3 weeks vacation. He couldn't wait to go back to school because he missed his classmates and his classroom. As his father, I couldn't wait for him to go back to school either because he started to get bored around the house and causing some mischief. His regular teacher started today and her name is Ms Rodriguez. My son had Ms Lulu as a substitute teacher for the first part of the school year but then his regular teacher came back. My wife and I drove by his school about 10:30 am to get a glimpse of his classmates and him enjoying outdoor activities for a while. It was so nice to see my son interacting with his classmates and being himself again. Yesterday we went to the park and my son was so hesitant to go on the slide, we had to coax him to go down. We figured that he really needed to get back to school and get back into his grove again because when he's in school, he doesn't need any motivation to get on the slide and slide down.

Summer pool safety tips: Keeping your children safe

On "Good Morning America" this morning, Dr. Richard Besser reported about the American Academy of Pediatrics' (AAP) recommendations to teach toddlers how to swim. The AAP also offers these additional tips to keep your child safe near a pool.

If you have a pool, follow these simple rules:

Keep toys away from the pool when the pool is not in use.

Deflate blow-up pools after each use.

Do not put moving toys, like tricycles, near the pool.

Do not put electrical appliances near the pool.

No diving in a shallow pool.

No running on the pool deck.

Installing a pool fence may be another safety measure combined with watching kids while they are swimming.

The AAP recommends that pool fences should:

Not be easy to climb, and should not have anything alongside the fence, such as lawn furniture, that can be used to climb it.

Be at least 4 feet high and have no footholds or handholds that could help a child climb it.

Other safety measures besides a pool fence may include:

Automatic pool covers

Door alarms

Doors to the house that automatically lock

Window guards

Pool alarms

My son is so funny

When i came home from work today, my son was eagerly waiting for me just like he always is. He cant wait for his daddy to come home from work. He's like my shadow. He's always following me everywhere i go when I'm home. When i walk by the living window he is standing on top of the couch looking out the window for me. He does that when he hears someone walking up the stairs to our apartment because he thinks it's daddy. I open the door and i say "Hi" and he says hi back to me. But what is really funny is today he was just talking baby talk so much to mommy and daddy. You know how 2 yr olds try to say words but we as adults cant understand what they are saying. Well, he was just talking up a storm today and it was so funny.

My son is sick

My son has been sick for the past 2 days and i feel bad as a father because i took him to chuck E. cheese's in national city and i think that's where her picked up his cold because there where many other children playing those games and you know that children are more susceptible to getting sick because their immune systems are not fully developed yet and where there are kids, you know there's going to be viruses and bacteria all around. I think its my fault and i feel so bad. He has stuffy nose and at night he cry's because he cant breath right and he's scared. Awwww. I love our son and only want the best for him. He's our first son and we always spoil him. To all those parents out there: when you had your first son didn't you just want to give him everything? I'm praying he will get better soon. Mommy and Daddy love you Ethan so much!
